Dress code
I'm one week into the art librarian gig, and so far things are going well. It's been a little bit overwhelming with meeting people and getting my bearings, but luckily I've had plenty of leisure time to do that, since my library isn't exactly a hub of activity. Case in point--there are currently four books checked out of my library, three by one person and three (not the same three, though) that are vastly overdue.
So far the biggest shock has been finding out that as part of the college's administrative staff, I am a role model--and role models wear pantyhose. I honestly didn't even know they made the stuff anymore, but there you go. Somehow I thought things would be a little looser at an art school, but apparently I'm in a different group than the students--one of whom showed up no less than three days last week wearing a pair of shorts that said "I'm too sexy for my shorts"-- and faculty--who tend toward paint-splattered jeans or shorts.
Ah well. I have a job. And I can ride the El to work. So even though my legs will be sweaty, I am not complaining. Honest.
